NEET (UG) 2025 State wise Counselling
NEET UG Counselling: The counselling process is a critical stage in any competitive exam, and when it comes to one of the largest entrance exams in the country like NEET, it becomes even more crucial. For many students, NEET counselling is a phase where confusion often arises, and mistakes can happen. This stage is as important as the exam itself – it’s truly a “make or break” point.
NEET counselling is the process where students select and organize their preferred colleges and courses. After that, the counselling authorities review these preferences and assign seats based on the candidates’ ranks.
For NEET 2025, admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, BVSc & AH, and BSc Nursing courses will be handled online by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
Candidates who register for the first round of NEET counselling in 2025 will need to provide personal, academic, NEET-UG, and contact details. They will also need to pay the counselling fee online. Additionally, candidates will be required to select their preferred colleges and courses during the MCC NEET counselling process. The article also outlines the step-by-step process for Mop-Up counselling.
Seat allocation for NEET-UG will be done after the registration phase, taking into account factors such as NEET scores, the choices filled by candidates, availability of seats, and reservation criteria. Approximately 20,000 seats are available under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) for NEET counselling. This process will be used to fill seats in deemed/central universities, ESIC/AFMS colleges, AIIMS, and JIPMER institutions.

There is a widespread misperception that NEET qualifying marks are equal to the half of the NEET score, i.e. 360, which is not true. NEET UG qualifying marks is 50th percentile. NEET percentile score and NEET score percentage are different. Hence, to qualify for NEET counselling, you must outperform 50% of the total aspirants who appeared for the NEET entrance exam. The NEET qualifying mark varies from year to year, often ranging from 150 to 200. Please keep in mind that simply scoring 150-200 in NEET (UG) exam is not going to help you get admission into the medical colleges in India.
